Former Kroger Site
WHRF purchased the former Kroger building in 2017 to preserve the site for future neighborhood development. After years of trying to secure the land underlying the building, the future of the site was finally secured when Model Group was able to gain control of the entire 3.5 acres.
In 2021, Model Group hired Yard & Company to complete community engagement and create a master plan for the site. The final deliverable on that work can be found here. Three projects are now slated to be completed at the site - Peebles Apartments, Paramount Launch A, and Paramount Launch B.
For purposes of financing, Peebles Apartments and Paramount Launch are packaged with the redevelopment of Alexandra, the Durner Building, and the Race Refrigeration Building.
WHRF purchased the Alexandra in 2021 to prevent foreclosure and to preserve affordable housing. We are working with Model Group and National Church Residences to rehab the building to maintain quality affordable housing for the next 30 years. Read more in our 2021 year in review here.
