Make Every Block Better

Walnut Hills was selected as one of only 10 H&R Block Nextdoor – Make Every Block Better projects out of nearly 2,000 nominations nationwide! Thanks to a grant application by WHRF, there are two new community street murals at Frederick Douglass Elementary School!

“H&R Block is committed to ‘Make Every Block Better’ as we build sustainable connections in neighborhoods and fight social isolation. By creating a street mural that connects a community garden to the local school we will build a connection between neighbors and the environment through art and gardening.”

Together, WHRF, H&R Block, Nextdoor, ArtWorks, Brandon Hawkins of Soul Pallette, Be the Machine, Frederick Douglass Elementary School, the City of Cincinnati Department of Transportation, and Walnut Hills volunteers created a safer and more beautiful neighborhood!
